Subscriber Update – March 2023

We hope that it has been a great start to 2023 for you. As always, we would like to say thanks for subscribing to your favorite magazine or newspaper with us. We look forward to continuing to provide entertaining and informative publications to your mailbox!

As seems the new normal, everything around us continues going up in price. Again this year we have endured price increases from airlines and freight companies, the publishers who face higher paper costs and the USPS which has increased most postal rates effective Jan 2023. As such, you may notice an increase in your renewal depending on the title. We are committed to keeping any increases in 2023 as small as possible and appreciate your understanding.

Over the past few months, there have been changes in a number to a number of titles. These changes include title name, frequency, price and sometimes the discontinuation of a publication. To date, we have seen the following changes over the past six months or so:

  1. Burda Plus has changed its name to Burda Curvy
  2. Freundin will publish 23 issues in 2023, rather than the usual 24. There will be no Issue #3.
  3. Gong Super Rätsel was discontinued.
  4. Kicker (Monday) – the distributor has substantial increased the purchase price which is now reflected in the renewal rates.
  5. Lisa Kochen and Backen will publish six times in 2023 rather than monthly.
  6. Mein Schönes and Landhaus has cancelled Issue #2 – and will publish 5 issues in 2023.
  7. Merian has suspended publication until Oct 2023
  8. Wohen Träume has changed its name to Garten & Wohen Träume

Our policy for most changes involving frequency or cancelled issues, is to adjust the existing subscription accordingly. So, for example, if a publisher decides not to publish an issue, your subscription would be extended by an issue. On occasion, a publisher may combine two months into one larger issue. In this case, the subscription would remain the same as we incur more freight, postage and handling costs. If a title has been suspended, or discontinued, typically we will connect directly with subscribers to offer alternative titles or other options.

When a change is made in frequency or subscription costs this is always reflected in our e-commerce site www.dmpubstore.com so we would encourage you to visit our site regularly. While you are there, take the time to scroll through our library of German magazine and newspaper titles available. We have also expanded to offer other languages and titles including English, Spanish, Italian and French.

As a reminder, we offer 1st Class and/or Priority Mail subscriptions for most of our magazines and newspapers. This may be of interest to those that subscribe to our collection of weekly titles. Our website contains USPS estimated delivery times for each class of mail under the Delivery Tab.

Exciting Announcement!

Last fall we announced the launch of our new website, www.dmpubstore.com where you can buy German Language newspapers and magazines directly! We had a terrific response and many requests for new titles.

Data Media already has thousands of happy subscribers who receive weekly and monthly German magazines and newspapers that we distribute through the United States Postal Service (USPS).

We are pleased to announce we have recently just added 36 new popular German publications from our European distributors. We now have 93 German language titles from diverse categories such as News, Fashion, Entertainment, Home & Garden plus much more! We also have expanded our selection and now offer English, French, Italian and Spanish titles. We invite you to browse our website for publications that may interest you. It is also a resource for updates, information, and news about our publications.

Our titles are flown in weekly from Frankfurt, Germany and are the latest weekly or monthly issues. We offer 1st Class and/or Priority Mail subscriptions for most of our magazines and newspapers which may be of interest if you would like a subscription to one of our collection of weekly titles.

Subscriber Update – January 2021

Dear Subscriber,

We trust this letter finds you well during these challenging times.  As always, we want to thank you for subscribing to your favorite magazine or newspaper with us.

We have received a number of complaints of delays in receiving magazines or newspapers for subscribers of weekly titles and issues mailed in December 2020. We have been in regular contact with our USPS representatives in Buffalo, NY and have passed through information regarding affected areas for subscribers.

We can confirm that our flights from Europe have not been disrupted and we continue to induct all titles available each Tuesday into the Buffalo post office.

However, as many have likely seen in the news, through December and into the New Year, the USPS has been working through a “perfect storm” of overwhelming mail volumes, Covid-19 restrictions and employee quarantines.  As noted in a Dec 23, 2020 CNN Business article:

“The U.S. Postal Service, similar to the broader shipping sector, continues to face near-term pressure on service performance across categories as it manages through a historic record of holiday volume this season,” USPS spokesperson Kim Frum told CNN in a statement. “This negative impact is compounded by the temporary employee shortage due to the COVID-19 surge, as well as ongoing capacity challenges with airlifts and trucking for moving this historic volume of mail.”

The same article quoted that over 18,000 USPS employees were in quarantine at the busiest mailing period of the year. Given this, we believe our friends at the USPS are doing their very best under very trying circumstances.

We anticipate that over the next few weeks we should see deliveries return to normal standards. These standards are detailed in the delivery tab of our website www.dmpubstore.com/delivery. If you are missing an issue from December please contact our call center service@roltek.com – we have a very limited supply of some titles from December.

Dear Subscriber,

We trust this letter finds you well during these challenging times. We hope you were able to enjoy the summer as restrictions lifted across the country. As always, we want to thank you for subscribing to your favorite magazine or newspaper through us.

We wanted to update you on some exciting news! We have added 23 new German language titles to our library with hopefully more to follow.  Please feel free to browse through our website and see if any of your favorite titles are now available. In our Announcement Tab you can always click to find the latest updates and news about our publications.

For the past six months, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, air cargo rates from Europe have dramatically increased given there is little air passenger traffic. We have been holding our renewal rates for the past six months hoping this would change. But, given the current situation with an apparent second wave, a return to normal air traffic is unlikely anytime soon.

However, we also believe, given the current economic conditions, it would not be helpful to our loyal subscribers to pass along these extra costs. As such we are pleased to announce that we are going to continue holding our subscription rates at existing 2020 levels. We hope this will encourage you to renew your subscription and maybe try another one of our titles.

As a reminder, we are now offering 1st Class and/or Priority Mail subscriptions for all of our magazines and newspapers.
